Thursday Treats - The Easiest Choc Cake Ever!

It was my Dad's birthday on Sunday and I baked my trusty chocolate cake. This is the easiest thing to make and I would recommend you all try it some day.

For the cake you will need:
225g unsalted butter * 200g golden caster sugar * 200g self raising flour * 50g drinking chocolate powder * 2 tsp baking powder * 4 eggs * 100ml milk.

Basically you bung them all into a bowl and whisk!!! Now I would suggest melting the butter first as it makes life easier. Then transfer to a pre-greased cake tin and pop in the oven for 50 minutes at 180 degrees. When done check its been cooked by sliding a knife through the centre. Place on a wire rack to cool.

For the chocolate cream you will need:
100g milk chocolate * 125g unsalted butter * 25g drinking chocolate powder * 75g sifted icing sugar.

Melt the chocolate first by placing in a bowl set over some simmering water.

Pop the butter, chocolate powder and icing sugar into a bowl and whisk using an electric whisk. When fluffy add the melted chocolate.

Once the cake has cooled apply the icing and enjoy!!!
